Belgian Coticule Standard Whetstone

Belgian Coticule Whetstones are used for super finish sharpening on Hapstone  knife sharpeners. Belgian Coticule stones are mounted on high-quality aluminum blanks.Yellow Coticule is mined in the Ardennes mountains in Belgium. Coticule is ultra-fine natural stone with a high garnet content, with estimated grit approximately JIS 8000- JIS 12000 Coticule is one of the most well-known whetstones in the world.Coticule stones are universal and can be used to sharpen knives of any steel.Coticule is preliminarily lapped and does not require lapping after purchase. Coticule should be used with water as a lubricant. All that is required is to wet the Coticule surface. There is no need to immerse the stone. During the sharpening, slurry with garnets is released from the Coticule surface. The more garnets are released, the more abrasive the grinding compound becomes. Try to keep slurry on a stone surface. Coticule stones may have a color pattern, slight natural imperfections, and inclusions. Note. Ardennes Coticule does not use the traditional Coticule layer classification anymore.  Specification Product size: 160 x 25 x 9 mm (6" x 1" x ⅓") Working surface: 150 x 25 x 5-6 mm (6" x 1" x ¼") Weight: 100 g (3.5 oz) Abrasive material: Slate Extra materials: Aluminum Blank, 3M PSA
