Before Thaw

In Migle Kosinskaite’s work, Before Thaw shows two figures standing close together, both leaning slightly forward as if sensing a change in the air. Their calm faces are lifted toward the sky, giving the scene a quiet, expectant feeling. The cool blue background surrounds them with a sense of winter stillness. Their clothing adds warmth and character. One figure wears a soft white coat with a bright belt, while the other is dressed in layered grays with patterned details and rounded earmuffs. Small touches of turquoise appear throughout the composition, connecting the two figures visually and adding a gentle spark of color to the cold setting. At its heart, Before Thaw is about waiting for warmth - the moment just before winter softens and the world begins to change. The artwork captures this pause with a peaceful and thoughtful mood. And while it stands beautifully on its own, it also fits naturally beside Migle Kosinskaite’s other winter-inspired pieces, all of which explore quiet emotion and atmosphere.
