Features Cotton beekeeping jacket with detachable hood Thumb loops keep the cuffs down over your gloves Durable, hard-wearing fabric tested in working bee yards Wide size range: X-Small through 10X-Large Machine washable — separate the hood and wash on a gentle cycle Official Bee Shield apparel How it works (in real life) A jacket covers the upper body where most stings land, without the heat or cost of a full suit. This one is solid cotton rather than mesh, so it trades summer airflow for durability — the reason removal crews favored it for rough work. The thumb loops are the detail that earns their keep: they hold the sleeve ends down so the cuff stays sealed against your glove instead of riding up your forearm mid-inspection. The hood detaches for washing or to swap a different veil. For hot-weather work, a ventilated mesh jacket breathes better. Before you order Sizing: Order at least one size larger than you normally wear to allow movement as you work. What's included: The jacket and its detachable hood. Pants and gloves sold separately. Coverage: Upper body only. For full-body coverage, see the matching Bee Shield suit below. Discontinued: Limited to stock on hand. No restock once sold through. Yes. It's available while current stock lasts and will not be restocked. We're moving our protective gear to the Swarm Commander line — see the links above. What are the thumb loops for? They loop over your thumbs to hold the sleeve cuffs down, so the jacket stays sealed against your gloves instead of riding up your arm while you work. Is it ventilated? No — solid cotton. Durable and sting-resistant, but warmer in summer than a mesh jacket. How should it fit? Order at least one size up from your usual size for room to move. Is the hood removable? Yes — it detaches for washing or to swap veils.
