This vibrant c.1930 French stone lithograph was created to advertise Bec-Kina, the apéritif famously marketed as the drink “for athletes.” Produced by A. Delmas & Fils of Bordeaux, the brand often used sporting themes to capture the energy and optimism of the interwar years. This design by Mich turns that idea into pure visual fun. Three football players form a celebratory human tower, hoisting an oversized bottle of Bec-Kina like a hard-won trophy. Their bright uniforms, flushed cheeks, and exaggerated movements give the scene an almost acrobatic rhythm. Mich was known for lively caricature, bold outlines, and expressive faces, all of which shine here. Printed as a true stone lithograph, the poster carries the rich color saturation and soft tonal blending that made French commercial lithography famous. The deep black background pushes the figures forward, creating a striking contrast that still feels modern. Produced through Publicité Wall in Paris, this poster is a wonderful example of prewar advertising art and a standout piece for collectors who appreciate the craftsmanship and character of traditional stone lithography.
