Bear Claws Meat Shredder & Pork Puller

Quickly Make Pulled Pork with our Bear Claw Meat Shredder Forks Take Ten Minutes. Claws Take Two. You have pulled pork shoulder with two forks before. You stand over the meat. One fork in each hand. Pulling in opposite directions. The meat is hot. The forks are short. Your hands are close enough to the steam that you feel it on your knuckles. Ten minutes later, the pork is pulled — mostly. Some chunks got missed. Some got mashed. The rest went cold while you worked. Or you grab the Bear Claws. One in each hand. Rake through a pork shoulder in two minutes and walk away with a pile of pulled pork that looks pulled — not shredded, not mashed, not hacked at with a pair of serving forks that were never built for the job. Pull. Shred. Lift. No Forks. No Knives. No Burned Knuckles. The claws are shaped like a hand rake — fingers curved, tips blunted, handles above the heat. You grip them from above, not from the side. That means your hands stay six inches above the meat instead of an inch away from it. The steam rises. Your hands stay cool. The pork gets pulled. The plastic is heat-resistant enough for meat fresh off the smoker. You can pull a pork shoulder straight from the rest into the serving tray without waiting for it to cool down to fork-safe temperature. The tines are wide enough to grab and pull chunks without shredding the meat into paste. Pasture-raised pork with good marbling deserves to be pulled, not ground. Beyond pork shoulder, the claws handle beef chuck, smoked turkey, braised lamb, and any other big cut that falls apart under its own weight and needs to be turned into something people can put on a bun. How to Use Them Pull the pork shoulder while it is still hot — not scalding, not cold, somewhere in that window right after the rest where the fat is still loose and the meat gives under pressure. Grip the claws with your hands above the handles. Rake through the shoulder in one direction. Rotate 90 degrees. Rake through again. The meat separates into strands. The fat cap and any unrendered pieces become obvious — pull those out. Keep raking until the whole shoulder is reduced to a pile. For extra bark texture, leave a few larger pieces intact. Not every bite needs to be the same size. Some chunks with bark on two sides give the pulled pork texture that a uniform shred cannot. Clean with hot water and a brush. The claws are one solid piece — no hinges, no joints, nowhere for pork fat to hide and go rancid. Dry them. Hang them. They are ready for the next cook. How It Fits in the Kit The injectors put moisture inside. The rubs build the bark. The smoker does the long work. The butcher paper protects the finish. The grill gloves get the meat off the pit. The Bear Claws handle the last step before the plate. The pull. The shred. The moment when a pork shoulder stops being a piece of meat and becomes a meal. Forks work. But you are not eating the pork. The people at your table are. Give them pulled pork. Not fork-shredded pork that took ten minutes and went cold while you worked. Ask the Pitmaster Ask the Pitmaster What material are the Butcher BBQ Bear Claws made from, and how much heat can they handle? Butcher BBQ Bear Claws are made from BPA-free, food-grade nylon that is heat-resistant to 475°F. That is hot enough to handle a pork shoulder straight off the smoker or out of a foil rest without warping, softening, or transferring any off-flavors to the meat. The handles are designed to keep your hands six inches above the surface of the meat so the steam rising off a freshly pulled shoulder does not reach your knuckles. You do not need to wait for the meat to cool to a fork-safe temperature — pull it while it is still hot, when the fat is loose and the muscle fibers separate cleanly. Why do Bear Claws produce better pulled pork texture than two forks? Forks have two tines each. They grip and tear in one direction, which tends to mash the outer fibers of the meat before the inner fibers separate. Butcher BBQ Bear Claws have multiple curved tines per claw that rake through the shoulder in a wide arc, separating muscle fibers along their natural grain rather than across it. The result is pulled pork with distinct strands and intact bark pieces rather than a uniform paste. Raking in two directions — once through the shoulder, then rotating 90 degrees and raking again — breaks the entire cut down in two to three passes without overworking any section of the meat. Are the Bear Claws dishwasher safe, and where in the dishwasher should they go? Yes — Butcher BBQ Bear Claws are top-rack dishwasher safe. Top rack only because the heating element in most dishwashers is at the bottom, and sustained direct heat from below can warp or stress the nylon over time even though the material is heat-resistant to 475°F in dry conditions. Top rack placement keeps the claws in the hot water and steam cycle without exposing them to the direct radiant heat of the element. Hand washing with hot water and a stiff brush works equally well — the claws are one solid piece with no joints or hinges where pork fat can accumulate and go rancid between washes. Can Bear Claws handle competition volume — multiple pork shoulders at once? Yes. Butcher BBQ Bear Claws are used by competition cooks and caterers pulling multiple pork shoulders in sequence. The one-piece nylon construction does not fatigue the way a fork handle does when you are pulling your fourth shoulder of the day, and the grip design keeps your hand position consistent across a long cook session. For competition use, pull each shoulder into its own pan before combining — the claws make it fast enough that the first shoulder does not go cold while you are finishing the second. A full pork shoulder pulls down in two to three minutes per claw pass, which means a competition-weight 10-pound shoulder is done in under five minutes from rest to serving tray. Can you use Bear Claws to lift and move hot meat, not just shred it? Yes — Butcher BBQ Bear Claws double as meat lifters for moving large cuts off the grill or out of a pan. The curved tines grip a pork shoulder, brisket flat, or whole chicken securely enough to transfer it from the smoker grate to a cutting board or serving tray without tongs slipping or a spatula bending under the weight. The heat-resistant nylon handles the temperature of meat coming directly off the smoker. For a brisket or pork shoulder that has been wrapped in butcher paper, the claws pierce through the paper and grip the meat underneath — no unwrapping required to move it.
