BD Loop Prefabricated Direct Burial Loop

Reliable, Versatile, Durable, and Easy-to-Install Vehicle Detection Solution When it comes to reliable vehicle detection for automatic gates, the BD Loops Preformed Direct Burial Inductance Loops set the industry standard. Designed for use in asphalt, concrete, gravel roads, and under pavers, these loops are the ultimate solution for ensuring safe and efficient gate operation. Each loop comes preformed with a fixed size and lead-in length, making installation quick and hassle-free. Built with durability in mind, these loops are constructed from solid 16 AWG copper wire and coated with a rugged outer jacket, ensuring long-lasting performance in a wide range of environments. Key Features Advanced Vehicle Detection Technology: The BD Loop Direct Burial system utilizes inductance to detect metal objects such as vehicles. Whether in commercial or residential applications, it ensures accurate and responsive detection. Durable Outer Jacket: Featuring an extra layer of protection, the thick, doped PVC outer jacket prevents damage to both the loop and lead-in during installation and ensures durability even under harsh conditions. Pre-Tested for Quality: Each loop is factory-tested in three different ways, guaranteeing optimal performance and reliability upon installation. Flex Yoke Design: A unique 1/2" coupler allows the lead-in to be pulled through PVC conduit, adding another level of protection and reducing the risk of damage. Rugged 16 AWG Copper Wire: The solid 16 AWG copper wire construction is easy to form and stays in place during concrete pours, providing stable performance without sinking below the rebar pattern. Eliminates Phantom Detections: Unlike loops encased in PVC conduit, BD Loops Direct Burial Loops eliminate air pockets, which are a common cause of phantom detections due to ground vibrations. Hassle-Free Installation: Every loop comes with zip ties and function labels to easily identify lead-in wires, making the installation process seamless and efficient. Technical Specifications Wire Gauge: 16 AWG solid copper wire. Insulation: Polyethylene (PE) insulation with a doped PVC outer jacket rated for direct burial. Voltage Rating: 600V. Temperature Rating: Up to 75°C (167°F). Compatibility: Works with any brand of loop detector. Requires a loop detector for full functionality. Performance & Applications: BD Loops are perfect for direct burial applications in: Concrete Pours Asphalt Paving Gravel Roads Dirt Roads Under Pavers By positioning the loop closer to the surface (6-8” depth recommended, but up to 14” is possible), you can achieve optimal detection performance. The loop’s detection height is approximately 2/3 of the short leg, making it capable of detecting a wide variety of vehicles, including standard cars and high-bed commercial trucks. BD Loops can even be installed next to stationary metal objects like rebar, drain pipes, manhole covers, and metal gates without compromising their detection capabilities. Plus, thanks to the factory calibration, loops detect only changes in the detection field, so nearby electrical lines or metal structures won’t interfere with performance. Installation Tips: For best results, install loops above rebar in concrete or asphalt, and encase them in sand when used under asphalt or gravel. Avoid installing loops below rebar, as this can reduce sensitivity. When running multiple loops in the same conduit or trench, set the loop detectors on different frequencies or maintain a 2” separation to prevent cross-talk. FAQs Can I use BD Loops for saw-cut installations? While the BD Direct Burial Loops can be used in saw-cut applications, it is recommended to use BD Loops' Preformed Saw-Cut Loops for optimal performance. Can I cut off excess lead-in? Yes, excess lead-in can be cut off, but ensure that it is not cut too short to prevent performance issues. If splicing is required, it may create a vulnerable point, so it's best to leave a little extra lead-in. Can BD Loops be installed near electrical lines? Yes, BD Loops can be installed near electrical lines with minimal risk of interference or false detections. How deep should loops be buried? Loops should ideally be buried 6-8” below the surface, but can still work effectively up to 14” deep. Custom Made BD Loops Looking for a specific loop size or lead-in length?
