These bookmarks serve as a valuable tool for personal study and reflection, reminding believers of the foundational prayer taught by Jesus. The Lord’s Prayer, as found in Matthew 6:9-13, is a model prayer given by Jesus during His Sermon on the Mount. Jesus instructs His followers not to use vain repetitions in their prayers, as the heathen do, thinking they will be heard for their many words. Instead, He provides a simple and profound example of how to pray: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. This prayer emphasizes honoring God, seeking His kingdom and will, relying on Him for daily needs, seeking forgiveness, and asking for deliverance from temptation and evil.
