Batman, Vol. 4 #1D (DC Comics 2025)

Secure the opening installment of a major franchise shift with Batman, Vol. 4 #1D, a 2025 DC Comics release that recalibrates the detective's ongoing saga. This forty-page debut pairs Eisner Award–winning writer Matt Fraction with artist Jorge Jimenez, structuring a focused narrative that challenges Bruce Wayne beyond conventional combat scenarios. Fraction applies the meticulous pacing and relationship-focused storytelling from Hawkeye and Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen to Gotham’s darker corners, emphasizing long-term consequences and institutional friction over isolated rogue gallery encounters. Jimenez translates that grounded approach into fluid action choreography and moody environmental detail, leveraging his established command of the character’s visual language. Gabriele Dall’Otto supplies the premium cover artwork, delivering a distinct collector-oriented focal point. Positioned as a clean structural break within the publisher’s continuous numbering system, this issue initiates Volume 4 while preserving core mythos continuity. The script establishes enduring changes to the hero’s operational tactics and moral thresholds, setting up subsequent arcs driven by sustained character progression rather than temporary crisis resets.
