Batman: Death Mask #2 (DC Comics 2008)

This issue continues Yoshinori Natsume’s original manga adaptation of DC’s Dark Knight, delivering 48 pages of black-and-white storytelling that bridges Bruce Wayne’s martial arts training in Japan with a present-day Gotham serial killer. As the second chapter of a four-part limited series originally published in 2008, the narrative examines how Bruce’s early years studying discipline and combat under Japanese masters shape his psychological profile and tactical approach. Rather than relying on conventional superhero technology, the story emphasizes kinetic hand-to-hand choreography, environmental clue tracking, and the lingering impact of cross-cultural mentorship on his future crime-fighting identity.
