Batman '89 #4B (DC Comics 2021)

This officially licensed Batman '89 comic issue #4B functions as a direct narrative companion to the 1989 studio film, bridging original screenwriter Sam Hamm’s draft material with modern graphic novel pacing. The interior run is illustrated by Joe Quinones, featuring 32 pages of full-color artwork that expands on key plot threads from the era. Readers follow a persistent antagonist closing in on Bruce Wayne to expose his dual identity, while Harvey Dent orchestrates a city-wide intervention driven entirely by chance. Batman counters this chaos by bending probability mechanics to protect Gotham’s fragile stability. The T+ rating aligns with PG-13 film standards, preserving the dark, stylized atmosphere of the source material without crossing into explicit content. As the designated B-cover edition, this variant carries a separate print run distinguished by Babs Tarr’s exterior illustration. Collectors seeking to differentiate shelf copies or assemble complete variant series will find this issue essential for its distinct gallery-quality packaging. Released under DC Comics’ 2021 imprint, the issue ties directly into the eight-part serialization, delivering a self-contained installment that rewards both casual readers and dedicated film archivists.
