Bat mythology is rich and varied across cultures. In many traditions, bats are seen as symbols of transformation, rebirth, and the link between life and death due to their nocturnal nature and ability to navigate the dark. In ancient China, bats are considered symbols of good fortune and happiness, while in some Native American legends, they represent intuition and adaptability. Conversely, in Western folklore, bats are often associated with darkness, witchcraft, and vampires, symbolizing fear and the unknown. Their mysterious presence in the night has inspired awe and superstition throughout history. Aside from their cultural significance, bats are also extremely interesting creatures. They are the only mammals capable of flight and make up one-quarter of all mammal species on the planet. Bats play a vital role in controlling insect populations.
