Basalt Pathway Fines

Basalt Pathway Fines are black crushed basalt fines designed to deliver a dependable base for pathways, walkways, and other hardscape applications. This compactable material forms a dense sub-base that remains stable under foot traffic and light equipment, helping your project stay level and solid for years. What makes Basalt Pathway Fines stand out Unlike generic aggregates, these basalt fines are specifically sized for predictable compaction and a uniform surface. The rich dark color enhances the contrast of edging and pavers, creating a clean, finished look. When installed at the recommended depth, the fines offer excellent drainage while minimizing surface shifting, settling, or washout—so your pathway stays smooth and walkable. Ideal uses Base layer for pathways and walkways Under pavers, flagstone, or stepping-stone installations Light-duty driveway sub-base or patio foundations Erosion control and stabilization around slopes or garden beds Installation guidance Plan your depth based on load and use: typical base applications range from a couple of inches for walkways to deeper for heavier traffic. Spread Basalt Pathway Fines evenly over the prepared subgrade, then compact with a plate compactor to achieve a dense, flush surface. Lightly mist the material as you compact to minimize dust and promote even settling. After compacting, re-check levelness and add a final topping layer if a precise finish is required for your project. Practical details and ordering Material: basalt, crushed fines Color: deep black for a modern, crisp aesthetic Pricing: priced by cubic yard (CU. YD); no amount is too small Planning tips To estimate how much Basalt Pathway Fines you need, calculate the project volume: multiply the length by the width by the desired depth in feet, then convert to cubic yards. A little extra is wise to account for settling and compaction. This material is ideal for DIY projects and professional installations alike, offering a reliable base that supports long-lasting pathways with a clean, professional finish.
