There is a 1" wide lip to hold your cookbook or iPad. Please note this is a natural bamboo wood cutting board. The lightness and darkness of the grain varies based on the board - and in so, all boards react differently to lasering. Care: Use warm soapy water and wipe dry. Treat with mineral oil.
