Bamaya

Tasting Notes: Tropical fruit array, sweet citrus to berries Cupping Score: 94 Bean Weight: 12 & 16 oz The story of the “Coffee Dance” is legendary in Ethiopia. It dates back to the 9th century Kaffa region, where the term “coffee” was created. A young herder Kaldi noticed something strange: the normally calm goats were jumping, frolicking on their hind legs. Kaldi, after some searching, noted that the goats had been eating the bright cherries of the coffee plants. So he tried them, his mind became more clear, his fatigue vanished — and soon Kaldi joined his herd, dancing in the fields. The Legend of Kaldi was noted as the first human dance. It later led to coffee farmers, who would rejoice after a successful harvest, “Bamaya! Bamaya!" This blend of Guji beans from the Kaffa region of Ethiopia is some of the highest scoring in the world, offering as many tropical and floral sugar notes as you could taste as the cup cools — it is a remarkably smooth, rich ride no matter how you brew it. You just might dance the morning away. Light roast is more edgy than the rounder and deep-bodied medium roast. Flavor notes are equally the same and intense, only the softness in the cup changes with medium roast winning that.
