Balboa Pier

Aerial photography allows Seth to experience his environment in a fresh and unique way. “I was an early user of drones. I was able to get my hands on a drone pretty early, and I became obsessed with shooting with it. All these places I’ve visited and photographed—Hawaii, Laguna Beach, Balboa Pier, or wherever. I’ve been there a thousand times, but I’d never seen these views until I could get far above them. The drone allows me to capture beautiful places from a really unique perspective.” On this day, Seth was drawn to the Balboa Pier just after sunset. “This was a really beautiful neon sunset. The goal is always to catch an amazing sunset, but rarely does it work out. You have to keep at it and keep visiting the same locations for that right day. The sun had set. This was a few minutes after. The water was calm and it was a relaxing moment. When people see this image, I want them to feel that feeling—the hopeful, peaceful, calming feeling that I felt when I saw this sunset.”
