Balasun Darjeeling

Balasun Darjeeling Tea This premium Second Flush from Balasun shows why Darjeeling’s summer harvest inspires so much devotion. The estate stretches across rolling hills shaped by the Balasun River, with elevations from 365 to 1,375 meters and a mix of original China bushes and select clonal cultivars. Its terrain and careful cultivation come through in every leaf. The liquor shines copper-bright and leads with juicy muscatel fruit. You’ll find layers of red plum and a warm hint of molasses, grounded by subtle toasted leaf and lifted by a delicate floral rise. The body is full without heaviness, finishing smooth, clean, and refined. Balasun’s commitment to sustainable, high-quality production is evident in this standout “grand cru” Darjeeling. Connoisseurs will appreciate its expressive depth and graceful structure. Just be mindful not to overbrew! Its high proportion of golden tips can turn astringent if steeped too long. Founded in 1871, the Balasun Tea Estate stretches across the rolling hills of Darjeeling’s Sonada region, overlooking the river it’s named for. The garden ranges from 365 to 1,375 meters in elevation, giving the tea bushes a mix of warm sun, cool breezes, and misty mornings. Balasun cultivates a blend of original China bushes and select clonal varieties, which is why its teas have a naturally fuller body and that vibrant muscatel character Darjeeling lovers chase. The estate is known for its steady commitment to quality and sustainable practices, and you can taste that care in every harvest.
