Bad Cat Purepath Passive Analog Cab Simulator

The Bruce Egnater–designed Purepath is a new kind of solution for guitarists who want to run direct without sacrificing the feel and response of a real amplifier and speaker. Previewed at NAMM Show 2026, Purepath immediately turned heads and earned Best in Show 2026, thanks to its entirely analog approach to cabinet simulation and reactive loading. At the heart of Purepath is an all-new mechanical reactive load that physically simulates the movement and dynamic behavior of a real guitar speaker. Instead of relying on resistive loads or digital modeling, Purepath interacts with your amplifier’s output stage the way a real cabinet does. The result is the kind of touch sensitivity, responsiveness, and natural amp feel that players expect when their amp is pushing a real speaker. The integrated analog cabinet-voiced DI is designed to deliver a big, forward, mix-ready guitar tone that sits naturally in recordings or live mixes. Whether you’re running directly into an audio interface, a PA system, or full-range monitors, Purepath produces a more natural cabinet-like response than traditional IR or DSP-based solutions, with immediate attack and convincing dynamics. One of Purepath’s biggest advantages is its simplicity. There are no impulse responses, menus, software, or power supplies required. Just plug in your amp and go. With five mini toggles providing ten different voicing options, you can quickly dial in the right direct sound for your rig while maintaining the character of your amplifier. Purepath can also be used with or without an extension cabinet, making it equally useful for silent recording, stage setups that require direct feeds, or hybrid rigs that blend mic’d and direct tones. Built with rugged all-metal construction and designed for real-world use, it’s a straightforward, reliable solution for players who want to go direct while keeping the feel and authenticity of their amp intact.
