Dacron Fly Line Backing

Backing is the line on the reel BEHIND your fly line to help you land those BIG fish that take all of your fly line and want MORE line after that. The purpose of backing is to fill up your reel to give you the maximum amount of line for fighting your fish. Not all backings are created equally - and we have a variety in stock to fit the needs of any angler. Backing is priced per 100 yards. The amount of backing that your reel will need is typically specified on the Reel manufacturer's website. We can make a suggestion if you need any assistance. The heavier backings for saltwater big game fishing are listed under Premium Saltwater Backing. If you want us to put the backing on your fly reel for you, please indicate whether you reel with your left hand or your right hand. You can leave us a note in your order, or contact us directly at 541-395-0995. 20 lb Dacron backing - this is the standard backing that we use on trout rods to back up our fly lines ranging from 0 weight to 6 weight.  30 lb Dacron backing - this is the standard backing that we use on larger rods and Spey rods. This backing will do everything you need in freshwater.
