Retrofit Steel Back Rail Kit for 2-Step Poly Step Stool – Yellow

Overview Barron Equipment and Overhead Door carries the steel retrofit back rail kit for 2-step nestable poly step stool models in the SPN series. A back rail kit gives the user a barrier at the rear of the step stool while standing on the top step. This helps prevent backward missteps and adds an extra layer of protection during use. The unit attaches to an existing 2-step poly step stool that is already in service, so there is no need to buy a new step stool to get rear support. The SPN-2-YL-BR-RF ships with an approximate weight of 27 lbs and is covered by a 90-day limited warranty. The back rail is colored yellow to match the safety yellow finish of the base step stool. This retrofit back rail kit is built for facilities that want to improve rear fall protection on their existing 2-step nestable poly step stools without replacing the whole unit. Features and Benefits The back rail kit is constructed from steel and colored yellow for added safety and visibility. The lightweight design makes it easy to handle during installation. The yellow color helps the back rail stand out in busy work areas, keeping workers and nearby personnel aware of the step stool’s location. The back rail provides a physical barrier behind the user while standing on the top step. This is especially helpful in settings where workers focus forward on a task and may not notice the edge behind them. By blocking the rear of the top step, the back rail reduces the risk of stepping backward off the stool. Installation is straightforward and designed for immediate use. The back rail kit bolts directly onto compatible 2-step models without special tools or complicated modifications. All necessary mounting hardware is included. Because it is a retrofit accessory, facilities can upgrade step stools that are already on the floor instead of purchasing new ones. This makes the back rail kit a practical and affordable way to improve safety on existing equipment. The base 2-step nestable poly step stool supports a 500 lb. uniform capacity, and this back rail kit is built to work within that same range. Applications The retrofit back rail kit is a good fit for any workplace where workers use 2-step nestable poly step stools and need rear protection while on the top step. Common environments include: Warehouses and distribution centers Stockrooms and retail backrooms Maintenance and repair areas Production and assembly floors Commercial kitchens and food service areas Hotels and hospitality facilities Municipal and government buildings Shipping and packaging areas Adding a back rail kit gives workers a barrier at the rear of the step stool to help prevent backward slips or falls. This is especially helpful when workers are reaching forward for items on shelves, performing overhead tasks, or working in tight spaces where awareness of the step edge is limited. Nestable poly step stools provide lightweight, high-visibility access across many types of commercial and industrial workspaces. The retrofit design lets a facility keep its current step stools in service while still improving worker protection from behind. Selection Assistance Barron Equipment and Overhead Door offers guidance to help customers choose the right step stool accessory for their setup. This retrofit back rail kit is designed only for 2-step nestable poly step stool models in the SPN series. It is not compatible with 1-step or 3-step models. A separate back rail kit is available for the 3-step model (SPN-3-YL-BR-RF). No back rail kit is offered for the 1-step model since it does not have a raised top step in the same configuration. Facilities that also want front handrail support can look at the retrofit handrail kit (SPN-2-YL-HR-RF). For teams that need casters, the retrofit caster portability kit (SPN-2-PO-RF) is available. If you want handrails, a back rail, and casters all at once, the All Options Accessory Kit (SPN-2-YL-AOK) bundles everything into one package for convenience and value. Customers can reach out through the website to compare options, confirm compatibility, or get help choosing the right accessory for their step stools.
