Our Awura socks takes inspiration from Ivory Coast's most notable tribe, the Baule tribe. They belong to the Akan group mainly associated with Ghana. In A.D. 1750 Queen Awura Pokou, along with her loyalists, migrated here from Ghana due to disputes over chieftaincy succession. Because of their historical ties with Ghana, their cloth tends to resemble the kente cloth traditionally worn in Ghana. These handmade textiles are generally woven by men who spend years studying to become master weavers. With this design, we also wanted to highlight a little-known fact about the country - the cocoa plant is Ivory Coast's national resource and they produce and export more cocoa than anywhere else in the world. The Ivorian flag colors are orange, white, and green. Orange for the savannah soils in the northern region, which has fertile land (symbolizing growth). White for peace. Green represents hope for a better future because of the rich tropical forest located in the southern region. PRODUCT CARE Machine Wash at 40 °C / 104 °F. Do not bleach or iron. Socks last longer if kept out of the dryer MATERIAL 83% egyptian cotton, 14% lycra, 3% elastic 168 Needle LENGTH Crew
