Avalon Bay Squares & Rectangular - 100 Sqft

Avalon Bay Squares & Rectangulars" refers to a specific type of natural stone veneer within the Avalon Bay collection, typically offered by manufacturers like MSI (MS International). This style is distinct from Fieldstone or Ledgestone due to its more uniform and defined shapes. Here's a detailed breakdown: What is it? Avalon Bay Squares & Rectangulars are loose stone veneer pieces cut into predictable square and rectangular shapes of varying sizes. Unlike the highly irregular shapes of Fieldstone or the linear stacked pieces of Ledgestone, this style provides a more structured and architectural appearance. Key Characteristics: Material: Crafted from natural marble. This means you get the inherent beauty, durability, and unique variations (veining, slight color shifts) that only real stone can offer. Appearance: Features split-face veneers. This means the natural, rugged face of the stone is exposed, providing a textured, three-dimensional look. The typical color palette for Avalon Bay is rich dark gray tones with delicate brown accents, offering a sophisticated and natural aesthetic. Shape & Size: As the name suggests, the individual pieces are primarily squares and rectangles. They come in a range of sizes, which allows for a varied and appealing pattern when installed, while still maintaining a cohesive, geometric feel. Installation: As "loose veneers," these pieces are installed individually (not on mesh panels). This allows for custom layouts and precise fitting. They are generally adhered to a suitable substrate using a thin-set mortar. Applications: Highly versatile for both interior and exterior applications. Exterior: Ideal for creating stunning exterior facades, pillar walls, outdoor kitchen surrounds, and garden walls, adding timeless elegance and curb appeal. Interior: Perfect for fireplace surrounds, accent walls, and other feature areas where a classic yet structured natural stone look is desired. Sustainability: Many Avalon Bay stone veneer products, including Squares & Rectangulars, are GREENGUARD Gold certified and meet USGBC/LEED standards. This indicates they are low-emitting materials, contributing to healthier indoor air quality and sustainable building practices. Durability: Being natural marble, these veneers are inherently durable and often frost-resistant, making them suitable for use in various climates. Compared to other Avalon Bay styles: vs. Fieldstone: Fieldstone is typically more irregular and organic in shape, mimicking stones found naturally in fields. Squares & Rectangulars are much more uniform and cut. vs. Ledgestone: Ledgestone is characterized by long, thin, linear pieces stacked horizontally. Squares & Rectangulars offer a wider variety of dimensions, including square pieces, creating a different kind of pattern. vs. Sawn Ashlar: While both use squares and rectangles, Sawn Ashlar typically has very precise, machine-cut edges (sawn), allowing for extremely tight, often groutless, installations and a very modern, crisp look. Squares & Rectangulars, particularly if they are "split-face," will have a more textured, less perfectly uniform edge than Sawn Ashlar. If you're looking for a natural stone veneer that offers the timeless beauty of marble with a more ordered and defined pattern than irregular fieldstone, Avalon Bay Squares & Rectangulars provides an excellent balance of rustic charm and architectural precision.
