MSI Avalon Bay Marble Ledgestone Corners – 50 Sq. Ft. Crate

Purpose and Importance: Seamless Transition: The primary purpose of corner pieces is to create a continuous, authentic stacked stone look around corners. Without them, you would have an obvious seam where flat panels meet, or you'd have to miter cut the ends of flat pieces, which is difficult with ledgestone's irregular textures and can expose the cut edge of the stone. Realistic Appearance: Natural ledgestone installations always show the "short" and "long" returns of the stone on corners. Dedicated corner pieces replicate this, making the veneer look like full-thickness stone. Simplified Installation: While you still need to lay individual pieces, using pre-formed corner pieces significantly reduces the complexity and time involved in achieving a professional finish compared to trying to create corners from flat pieces. Durability and Protection: Properly installed corner pieces contribute to the overall integrity and weather resistance of the veneer system, especially for exterior applications, by minimizing exposed seams that could allow moisture infiltration. Characteristics of Avalon Bay Ledgestone Corners: Material: Like the flat panels, Avalon Bay Ledgestone Corners are made from natural marble. This ensures consistency in material quality and appearance. Style: They maintain the characteristic "split-face" finish of ledgestone, showcasing the rugged, natural texture of the stone. Color Palette: They match the bold dark gray tones with occasional brown highlights found in the Avalon Bay Ledgestone flats. Natural variations in color and texture are inherent to marble, adding to the unique charm of each installation. Dimensions: Corner pieces for ledgestone typically come in linear foot (LF) measurements. They are L-shaped, with varying "short returns" and "long returns" to mimic natural stone layering. You'll often find them sold by the linear foot in boxes. Application: Suitable for all interior and exterior wall applications where Avalon Bay Ledgestone flats are used, including: Fireplace surrounds and hearths Exterior home facades and pillar walls Outdoor kitchen islands and barbecue surrounds Accent walls and feature walls Columns and architectural elements Installation Notes (General, always refer to manufacturer guidelines): Substrate: Ensure the substrate (e.g., cement board, prepared wall) is clean, stable, and ready for veneer application. Mortar: Use a high-quality polymer-modified thin-set mortar or stone veneer adhesive. Starting Point: For corners, you typically start with the corner pieces at the bottom and work your way up. Alternate the long and short returns of the "L" shape to create a staggered, natural look. Integration with Flats: After installing a corner piece, you then butt the flat ledgestone pieces directly into it along the wall, maintaining the desired joint spacing (often a dry-stacked look for ledgestone, meaning very tight joints without visible grout). No Grout (Typically): Most ledgestone, including Avalon Bay Ledgestone, is designed for a "dry-stacked" or "groutless" installation, where the pieces fit tightly together with minimal to no visible grout joints. Safety: When cutting any natural stone, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including a respirator to protect against silica dust, and eye protection. Use a wet saw for best results. If you are planning a project with Avalon Bay Ledgestone, make sure to factor in the specific linear footage of corners you'll need in addition to the square footage of the flat panels.
