Autumn Joy Sedum Shrub

Bursts of Color in the Fall• Rich color- summer through fall • Drought-resistant • Attracts butterflies and honeybees • Great for cut flower arrangements • Perfect for borders and containers Low-Maintenance Perennial If you're like most gardeners, you love interesting and unique flowers, but don't have time to fuss with delicate varietals. Autumn Joy Sedum is a low-maintenance perennial that thrives in a variety of conditions and always produces rich, dramatic color and texture... year after year. Rich Color From Late Summer Through Fall This Sedum pokes through the ground in late spring and graces flowerbeds with a medium green color and rich succulent texture. As the season progresses, the plant begins to form dense bud clusters. As the summer draws to a close, Sedum "Autumn Joy" bursts on the scene with color. Initially the flower heads are a pale blush and as the days tick by, a rich rosy russet appears. For added interest during the dull winter months, you can leave the dried sedum stalks in tact until early spring. This provides a pop of color and texture that contrasts nicely with fresh fallen snow. Attracts Butterflies and Honeybees As the majority of blooming flowers are winding down for the season, Autumn Joy Sedum is just ramping up its colorful displays. While this helps create needed interest in your flowerbeds late in the season, it provides much-needed fuel for honeybees as they prepare for the long winter. As populations of honeybees dwindle worldwide, this is a great way to do your part to encourage the repopulation of honeybee hives. If you live in warmer climates, it will also attract butterflies and other beneficial pollinators and insects. Provides Winter Food Source for Resident Birds In addition to feeding honey bees and other late season pollinators, the dried flower heads create a great perch and energy source for resident birds during the winter months. Enjoy seeing your favorite-feathered friends while they pick seeds from the flower head to get a nutritional boost. Perfect for Flower Arranging This is a low-maintenance option that provides rich color and fuel for pollinators, but it is also great to use in cut flower arrangements. Tall, sturdy stems support flat umbel flower heads to provide rich color and texture to any design. This variety is also perfect for drying to create permanent botanical displays.
