Autumn Glory

"Our sun shines low in the sky today This is God's wish at autumn-time Beams shine over my last yellow rose and her velvety blossom glows... Today is the annual 'poppy' story But come ye, oh come ye Come and admire my one unique rose Before she fades beyond all glory." - Joyce Hemsley "Autumn is now upon us Foliage changing Changing to its burning bronze gown Gone are summer's lush succulent greens Leaves are rapidly drying up Losing their life-giving succulent juices Gradually crinkling and shrinking Becoming crisper and more fragile Their thinning veins strain Reaching out to its furthest tip Giving nourishment from what is left Finally, in their own last moments The dying leaf gives over to its fate Breaks away from the now brittle stem Floats and flutters down, down far below Lands atop of earlier fallen foliage Becoming just a part of a growing heap Spreading out over the grassy mounds And strewn upon paths and ground Laying as a blaze of orange, reds and golds As a blazing blanket A blanket of Autumn glory" - Deanna Samuels Reproduced from the artist's original artwork of Oil on Board 42.5 x 48.
