Together, they combine old-world tailoring (from various antique European manuals) with workwear production techniques. Constant research into garment production techniques around the world informs their design, with the goal of creating “recreations” rather than “reproductions” This is Motiv's homage to the classic button down, drafted off of instructions from the 1950s. The body is cut wide and roomy, while the armholes are more deliberately fitted, with gathering across the back yoke for ease of movement. The one piece "stand-and-fall" button down collar uses hidden tabs for a clean finish, highlighting its generous cut and elegant shape. This lightweight linen broadcloth is woven using fine count yarns at a very high density, creating a fabric that is light and airy yet structured and draping. An ideal summer fabric, the 100% linen yarns breathe better than cotton does, wicking moisture and drying more quickly as well. The details are great too, from the tonal buttons, to the rounded single chest pocket, to the angular seam reinforcements at the gussets on the hem. Speaking of the hem - it's long and rounded, perfect for wearing tucked in to your favorite pants or trousers, but still elegant and handsome if worn untucked. Fits true to size.
