Audio Technica AT-CAP1 Cartridge Alignment Protractor

Audio-Technica AT-CAP1 Cartridge Alignment Protractor Ensure precise cartridge alignment with the Audio-Technica AT-CAP1, a compact and reliable protractor that uses the widely accepted Baerwald alignment method. Proper cartridge alignment is crucial for minimizing distortion, maximizing stylus lifespan, and achieving the best possible sound from your vinyl. The AT-CAP1 allows you to accurately set your cartridge’s offset angle and stylus null points, helping the stylus stay tangent to the groove throughout record playback. Compatible with most tonearms between 222 mm and 250 mm in effective length, this alignment tool is a must-have for anyone serious about analog audio performance. Q&A Section Q: What alignment method does this tool use? A: The AT-CAP1 uses the Baerwald (Loefgren A) method to set accurate stylus offset and null points. Q: What tonearm lengths is it compatible with? A: It works with tonearms that have an effective length between 222 mm (8.7") and 250 mm (9.8"). Q: Why is cartridge alignment important? A: Proper alignment minimizes tracking distortion, improves sound quality, and reduces stylus and groove wear. Q: Is it easy to use? A: Yes, just place it on the platter and use the printed guides to align your cartridge precisely. Q: Does it require any tools? A: No additional tools are required, but a small screwdriver may be needed to adjust the cartridge position once aligned. Q: Will this work with all turntables? A: It works with most standard turntables, provided the tonearm falls within the supported length range. Q: What is a null point? A: A null point is where the stylus is perfectly tangent to the groove; the AT-CAP1 aligns the cartridge to pass through two of these for accurate playback. Q: Can it improve sound quality? A: Yes, proper alignment improves stereo imaging, reduces distortion, and enhances overall audio fidelity.
