ATC SCM40A Active Floorstanding Speakers (Pair)

The ATC SCM40A Active Floorstanding Speakers (Pair) combine ATC's legendary loudspeaker engineering with a fully integrated active amplification system to deliver uncompromising high-fidelity performance. Handcrafted in England, the SCM40A is designed for music lovers who want to experience recordings with exceptional accuracy, effortless dynamics, and natural musical balance—without the uncertainty of amplifier matching. At the heart of the SCM40A is ATC's renowned three-way driver system. The acclaimed 75mm soft dome midrange driver reproduces vocals and instruments with remarkable transparency and realism, while the 164mm short-coil bass driver delivers deep, articulate low frequencies with exceptional control. Completing the system is ATC's precision-engineered 25mm dual-suspension soft dome tweeter, providing smooth, detailed high-frequency reproduction with excellent dispersion and low distortion. What truly distinguishes the SCM40A is its fully active architecture. Each driver is powered by its own dedicated Class A/B amplifier—150 watts for the bass driver, 60 watts for the midrange driver, and 32 watts for the tweeter—for a total of 242 watts per speaker. Combined with ATC's fourth-order active crossover and phase compensation circuitry, every amplifier is optimized specifically for its assigned driver, resulting in greater accuracy, improved transient response, lower distortion, and exceptional driver integration. The SCM40A presents music with effortless authority and remarkable composure. Vocals are reproduced with stunning realism, instruments occupy clearly defined positions within an expansive soundstage, and complex recordings retain their clarity even at high listening levels. Whether enjoying intimate acoustic performances, large orchestral works, or dynamic contemporary music, the SCM40A delivers a highly engaging listening experience that remains faithful to the original recording. For audiophiles seeking a premium floorstanding loudspeaker that combines British craftsmanship, studio-monitor heritage, and the performance advantages of active loudspeaker technology, the ATC SCM40A stands among the finest integrated high-end audio solutions available.
