2pc Gold Testing Kit with Acid Testing Solution & Scratch Stone (10k, 14k, 18k or 22k)

Test gold quickly and conveniently with ASR Outdoors Gold Testing Kit with Acid Testing Solution and Scratch Stone. Designed for gold prospectors, gold panners, miners, collectors and hobbyists, this compact kit provides the essential tools needed for traditional acid based gold testing. The included gold acid testing solutions (choose from 10k, 14k, 18k or 22k), are formulated for checking gold of the corresponding karat, while the included scratch stone provides a durable surface for creating a test streak. Together, they offer a simple and portable way to perform preliminary gold purity testing at home, in the workshop or even out in the field, making the bundle a practical addition to your prospecting gear when you want a closer look at what you’ve recovered. Compact and easy to keep with your field or home testing supplies, this two piece kit is well suited for prospecting trips, claim work, sampling sessions and post trip sorting and sampling. Whether you’re checking a promising find or adding another useful tool to your gold panning setup, it’s a straightforward way to support your identification process. For best results, follow all product instructions and recommended safety precautions when handling acid testing solutions. Acid testing is intended as a preliminary identification method and should not be considered a substitute for professional precious metal analysis when exact purity verification is required. HOW TO TEST GOLD WITH A SCRATCH STONE & ACID TESTING SOLUTION: Before Testing Wear protective gloves and eye protection and work in a well-ventilated area. Gold testing solutions contain corrosive acids and should be handled carefully. Keep testing solutions away from children, skin, eyes, clothing and surrounding surfaces. Always follow the safety information provided on the product label and included instructions sheet. For best results, make sure the gold sample and scratch stone are clean and dry before beginning. SINGLE KARAT TESTING BUNDLES For kits containing a scratch stone and one 10K, 14K, 18K or 22K testing solution: Create a Test Streak: Firmly rub the suspected gold across the scratch stone several times to leave a clear, visible metal streak. Apply the Testing Solution: Place a small drop of the included gold testing solution directly onto the streak. Do not allow the bottle tip or dropper to touch the testing stone or sample. Observe the Reaction: Watch what happens to the streak where the solution was applied. If the streak remains visible and largely unaffected: The sample may be at least the karat level indicated by the testing solution. If the streak dissolves or disappears: The sample is likely below the karat level indicated by the testing solution or may not be gold. Clean the Testing Area: Carefully remove any remaining test solution according to the product instructions before performing another test. Example: When using a 14K testing solution, a streak that remains may indicate the sample is approximately 14K gold or higher. If the streak dissolves, the sample is likely below 14K. IMPORTANT TESTING TIPS: Begin with the lowest-karat solution and work upward when using a multi-solution kit. Use a clearly visible metal streak for easier observation. Use a fresh or thoroughly cleaned section of the stone between different testing solutions. Never touch the acid bottle or dropper tip directly to the scratch stone or sample. Recap each testing solution immediately after use. Do not mix testing solutions together. Neutralizer is intended to help neutralize residual testing acid during cleanup; it does not replace gloves, eye protection, proper ventilation, or other safety precautions. Acid testing provides a preliminary indication of gold purity rather than an exact assay. A NOTE FOR PROSPECTORS: Naturally occurring gold can vary considerably in purity and may contain silver, copper, or other minerals. Gold flakes, nuggets, and specimens may also contain attached rock or mineral material that can affect testing. For these reasons, acid testing is best used as a preliminary field or home identification method rather than a precise measurement of gold content. For exact gold purity, composition, or value, additional professional testing may be required.
