Hosui Asian Pear Tree

Hosui Asian Pear Tree is a standout for gardeners who want bold sweetness wrapped in a refreshing crunch. Its large, round fruit develops golden-bronze to brownish-orange russet skin and exceptionally juicy flesh with a rich honeyed flavor. Compared with milder Asian pears, Hosui offers more caramel-like depth while retaining the crisp, apple-like texture that makes this fruit so satisfying straight from the tree. It is excellent in salads, lunchboxes, desserts, and cheese plates, where the bronze skin and clean slices look as appealing as they taste. White spring blossoms bring ornamental value and pollinator activity before the crop forms. For mild-winter gardens seeking a premium Asian pear with memorable flavor rather than sweetness alone, Hosui delivers an inviting combination of beauty, abundant juice, and a crackling fresh-picked bite. Hosui grows semi-dwarf on OHxF333 rootstock and is suited to USDA zones 5–10, with a confirmed 300–400 chill-hour requirement. In suitable climates, harvest is typically early to mid-August. Plant in full sun and well-drained soil, irrigate consistently during fruit development, and thin clusters for larger pears and stronger branches. Hosui requires a compatible pear for reliable production. Confirmed partners include Bartlett and 20th Century.
