As We Get It Islay Single Malt

Experience the unbridled spirit of Islay with 'As We Get It,' Cask Strength Single Malt. This robust, unfiltered expression from Ian Macleod delivers an uncompromised journey into intense peat, maritime character, and a warming, complex finish that truly embodies its Scottish heritage. Tasting Notes Nose: Initial powerful wave of briny sea air, wet campfire smoke, and iodine, characteristic of a quintessential Islay malt. Beneath this robust peat, notes of lemon zest, green apple, and a hint of vanilla emerge, suggesting a subtle sweetness balancing the maritime intensity. A touch of medicinal bandages and tar rounds out the complex aroma. Palate: The entry is bold and full-bodied, delivering an immediate and intense burst of peat smoke mingling with a surprising sweetness. There's a chewy texture, carrying flavors of smoked almonds, black pepper, and charred oak. Salty sea spray and a mineral quality are prominent, balanced by hints of honey, caramelized sugar, and a distant wisp of licorice. The high proof makes its presence known, providing a warming heat that enlivens the palate rather than overpowering it. Finish: Long, lingering, and exceptionally smoky. The peat continues to dominate, fading slowly into notes of campfire ash, dark chocolate, and a pleasant brininess that recalls the wild Islay coast. A subtle sweetness of dried fruit and a touch of roasted coffee bean emerge at the very end, leaving a warm, satisfying glow.
