c. 1930s-1940s; Art Specialty Company (Flexo) - Chicago, IL Streamlined industrial task lamp in brown enamel over cast and pressed metal, featuring a long rectangular fluorescent housing mounted to a fully articulating dual-arm system. The design leans heavily into early machine-age styling, with stepped base geometry, rounded joints, and a low-profile light bar built for even work surface illumination. Twin fluorescent tubes are housed beneath a vented metal cover, with a simple on/off push switch mounted along the top of the fixture. The armature pivots at multiple points, allowing for precise positioning across a workbench, drafting table, or industrial desk. A utilitarian object with strong sculptural presence-engineered for clarity, built to endure. Shows moderate surface wear including scattered paint loss, scuffs, and areas of oxidation around joints and edges. Base exhibits small chips and wear consistent with use. Overall structurally sound and retains strong original finish.
