Great War Armistice Blouse

The back of the blouse extends over the shoulders to meet the lightly gathered front, and gathers at the center back waist into a self-fabric tie or ribbon, which encircles the waist to tie in front. The long collar falls softly over a center panel, or vestee, forming a deep rectangular neckline. Tiny buttons close the blouse on the left side. Long set-in sleeves gather into wide turned- back cuffs. Folkwear maintains the traditional curved hemline that is slightly shorter in back. View A is made of plain fabric; a soft cotton print would be lovely.  View B is trimmed with lace at the edges of the collar, cuffs, and vestee, which is may also be decorated with narrow tucks.  Handwork notes inside the pattern cover include optional drawn-thread work and designs and instructions.  You may make it as simple or elaborate as you like. Suggested fabrics: Lightweight fabrics such as gauze, batiste, voile, georgette, or other light cottons; silk.
