Ardbeg Arrrrdbeg! Committee Release 2020

Experience Ardbeg Arrrrdbeg! 2020, a rare 13-year-old Islay Single Malt, a non-chill filtered dram of exceptional depth. This limited edition perfectly balances powerful peat with sweet and savory complexity, a true voyage for the senses. Tasting Notes Nose: A complex and inviting nose, immediately greeted by Ardbeg's signature peaty embrace, though remarkably integrated and nuanced. Waves of brine and seaweed are balanced by sweeter notes of dark chocolate, espresso bean, and a hint of treacle. Underlying layers reveal medicinal peat, smoked bacon, and a subtle herbaceous quality like rosemary or thyme, with a whisper of dried fruit and vanilla from the 13 years of maturation. Palate: The palate bursts forth with a powerful yet harmonious fusion of maritime influence and rich sweetness. Intense peat smoke, akin to a smoldering campfire on a stormy beach, coats the mouth. This is swiftly followed by a creamy texture carrying notes of dark fudge, salted caramel, and black cherry. Black pepper, aniseed, and a touch of roasted coffee emerge, creating a delightful interplay between the savory and the sweet. A surprising citrus zest, like candied orange peel, provides a refreshing counterpoint to the smoky depth. Finish: A long, lingering, and ultimately satisfying finish. The peat smoke slowly recedes, leaving behind a warm, smoldering embers sensation. Notes of bittersweet chocolate, licorice, and a persistent maritime salinity endure. A gentle oak spice, reminiscent of old leather and tobacco leaf, rounds out the experience, inviting another sip.
