Arctic Jade Maple

Arctic Jade Maple gives northern gardeners the graceful look of a Japanese maple with cold hardiness tested to -30°F. Part of Iseli Nursery’s Jack Frost® Collection, this broad upright tree grows about 20' tall and 15' wide, making it a refined specimen for landscapes that need beauty without an oversized canopy. Grow Japanese Maple Beauty Where Others Fail Many Japanese maples struggle in Zone 5 and colder, leaving northern gardeners disappointed after harsh winters. Arctic Jade was bred from Japanese maple and hardy Korean maple parentage to bring that coveted ornamental look into Zone 4 gardens. You get deeply cut, jade-green foliage and graceful branching without the special winter protection often needed for less hardy maples. Turn Fall Into the Best Season in the Yard The autumn color is a major reason to plant Arctic Jade. Its jade-green summer leaves shift to brilliant orange and red tones, giving the landscape a strong fall focal point. The large, deeply cut leaves create layers of color across the canopy, so the tree stands out near patios, lawns, entries or woodland edges. Add a Specimen Tree Without Overwhelming the Space At about 20' tall and 15' wide, Arctic Jade has enough presence to anchor a planting, but it still fits many home landscapes. Use it where you want a small ornamental tree with real structure—near a seating area, along a property edge or as a focal point in a front yard. Spend Less Time Worrying About Winter Damage Arctic Jade needs no special winter care in Zone 4. It adapts to dry or moist soils, handles a range of pH and tolerates urban conditions, including pollution. Plant it in full sun to partial shade, with afternoon shade helpful in warmer areas. If pruning is needed, do it in summer after the leaves have opened.
