The National & Bob Weir - April/May 2016 Relix Issue

The April/May 2016 Relix issue features our The National & Bob Weir cover story and much more! Few onlookers would have immediately pointed to Jerry Garcia as an obvious influence when The National first formed out of the indie art-underground. But over the past eight years, and especially as they geared up for the release of the all-star Day of the Dead tribute, they have become both unassuming heirs to the Dead’s storied songbook and harbingers of interfaith indie-jam cool. Editor-in-Chief Mike Greenhaus spent time with National guitarists and lifelong collaborators Aaron and Bryce Dessner as they put the final touches on their much-anticipated tribute to a genre-defining American band—and finds out how The National emerged at the forefront of the glimmering Grateful Dead world. This issue also contains additional articles and interviews with Graham Nash, Peter Frampton, John Popper, G. Love & Special Sauce, Steve Kimock and John Morgan, Lake Street Dive, Chip Hooper, The Wild Feathers, Explosions in the Sky, Matrix, Sean Watkins, Bombino, Marc Ford, Butch Trucks, Nolatet, Night Moves, Esperanza Spalding and more!
