API Pond EcoFix contains a highly concentrated blend of all-natural beneficial bacteria. These bacteria consume organic matter such as fish waste, uneaten food, and decaying leaves that settle at the bottom of the pond. By breaking down this "pond muck," EcoFix naturally clears the water and reduces the need for manual pond clean-outs. Is API EcoFix safe for koi, goldfish, and aquatic plants? Yes, API EcoFix is 100% all-natural and safe for all pond life. It is specifically formulated to be harmless to koi, goldfish, and turtles, as well as live aquatic plants like water lilies. It is also safe for surrounding wildlife and pets that may drink from the pond. What is the dosage for the 16 oz bottle of API Pond EcoFix? The 16 oz bottle treats up to 4,000 gallons of pond water. For initial spring start-up or to break down heavy sludge, add 4 tablespoons (60 ml) for every 250 gallons of water twice a week for two weeks. For regular maintenance, simply add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) per 250 gallons every two weeks. Does EcoFix help increase dissolved oxygen in the pond? Yes. One of the primary benefits of EcoFix is its ability to increase dissolved oxygen levels. By eliminating the waste that consumes oxygen during decay, it ensures more is available for your fish, promoting a healthier ecosystem and preventing fish stress. Can I use API EcoFix alongside AlgaeFix or other treatments? Absolutely. EcoFix is often used in a two-step process with API AlgaeFix. After AlgaeFix kills the algae, EcoFix is added to digest the resulting dead organic matter. This prevents your pond filter from clogging and keeps your water crystal clear.
