APE - E85 FlexFuel Kit - BMW S52/S54

Add up to 30whp  by running your vehicle on E85 Fuel. The APE Flexfuel system features an integrated ethanol sensor allowing 91/E85 octane without the need for mixing or calculating fuel blends as it will automatically adjust to optimum performance for detected octane.  How Does Flex Fuel Work? A flex fuel car running on E85 will generally run just as it does when running on pure gasoline, with a few key exceptions. The pump octane number of E85 is typically 110, as opposed to gasoline's 84 to 93, which means it can withstand more compression before auto-igniting, or "knocking." That means it's possible to run more spark advance and thereby extract slightly more power out of an engine running on E85 than the same engine can produce when burning regular or premium unleaded gasoline. (Note that a variable compression engine shouldreallybe able to capitalize on E85, but the Nissan/Infiniti VC-Turbo engine is not currently flex-fuel rated.) Another big difference: Because E85 contains just 73 to 83 percent of the energy found in a gallon of gasoline, range and measured fuel economy both decrease when operating on E85. Fuel economy typically drops by 15 to 27 percent relative to today's pump gasoline, most of which has contained 10 percent ethanol since 2010. Specifications 10-15% increase in rear wheel horsepower The lower cost of E85 results in a 5-15% decrease in dollars spent per mile Your engine will run 10-15 degree cooler than running it on straight gasoline Emissions reductions of E85 compared to conventional gasoline range from 51% to 88%  The biggest bang for your performance buck Compatible with 3rd Party Flash tunes for additional performance Flex Fuel Power Module Plug and Play Flex Fuel Conversion Module Allows vehicles to run gasoline, E15, E85, E98 or any mixture of the three Dynamically adjusts fuel injector pulses based on ethanol content measured in the fuel Contains Fuel Composition Sensor, Control Module, and Wiring Harness IOS and Android apps available for configuring system and real time monitoring of fuel injector duty cycle and ethanol content of fuel via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 1 year warranty Ethanol Percentage Monitor Alternative Performance Engineering has an iPhone & Android application called “APE X85” that lets you monitor your Ethanol Percentage and maximum injector duty cycle. Real-Time Data Alternative Performance Engineering’s state-of-the-art APE X85 application enables mobile users the ability to monitor their data in real time, maximizing performance. Fuel Calculator The app provides a fuel calculator that recommends the maximum safe ethanol percentage your vehicle can run, allows the user to configure settings like cold start enrichment, and the Advanced Tuning feature helps trim fuel delivery across specific RPM ranges. Bluetooth Connectivity The app works wirelessly through Bluetooth Low Energy, offering convenience and seamless function. Is Flex Fuel (E85) available near me? Check the Ethanol Finder that shows locations of E85 gas stations. E85 becomes more available everyday so continue to look on the websites for updated resources and keep an eye out for an E85 sign at your local gas stations. For mobile, GasBuddy has an E85 station locator in the filters.  Do I have to retune my vehicle to run Flex Fuel? Installing the APE X85 module is a complete plug and play system. You don’t have to touch your vehicle’s computer. The X85 modifies your vehicle’s computer fuel injector signals to work correctly with Flex Fuel. Do I need to change my fuel injectors to run Flex Fuel? The answer is typically no, but it depends on the vehicle and whether or not it has any modifications. The APE IOS and Android apps that work with the X85 module have the ability to measure your vehicle’s maximum fuel injector duty cycle, and if your vehicle is near 100% it can recommend an appropriate ethanol mixture that will work with your vehicle. Can I run Flex Fuel in cold climates? Vehicles running E85 typically have issues starting in cold weather. We recommend mixing some gas with your E85 to help in this situation. The APE X85 also has the ability to add additional fuel at startup to help, preventing hard starts.  Isn't an E85 specific tune better for my vehicle? Yes and no. If you have an software tuner flash your vehicle’s DME to run E85, then it is possible to see higher power gains as the tuner can maximize timing for E85. Since the vehicle will be specifically tuned to run E85, then you will have to only put E85 in your vehicle. The APE X85 module comes with a fuel content sensor which measures the exact amount of ethanol in your fuel and modifies the fuel injectors to work for that mixture. This gives the driver complete flexibility to run and compensate for different octane levels.  Vehicles Supported BMW E36 M3 (S52) BMW E46 M3 (S54) BMW E36/7 Z3M (S52/S54) BMW E85/6 Z4M (S54)
