Oak barber shop display cabinet featuring a glazed upper showcase with fixed side glass, a removable glass display shelf, and a glass top for viewing merchandise from above. The rear is fitted with sliding paneled doors providing access to both the upper display compartment and lower enclosed storage area. The cabinet retains its original slatted wood display floor, adjustable shelf standards, and substantial molded base. A typed note accompanying the cabinet states that it was originally used in the barber shop of the Aneta Hotel in Cicero, Illinois, where it reportedly stood beside the cash register. The compact footprint and all-around visibility made cases of this type ideal for displaying shaving accessories, toiletries, cigars, and other impulse purchases in early 20th-century barber shops. Shows excellent overall condition with light wear consistent with age and commercial use. Finish retains an attractive warm patina with scattered minor scratches, handling marks, and expected finish wear. Sliding rear doors operate properly and the interior remains clean. The removable glass shelf is present, and the original top glass exhibits numerous surface scratches from decades of use as photographed. The top glass could be replaced at the buyer's expense prior to shipping if desired. 36" W x 24" D x 42" H Top Display Interior: 33" W x 21" D x 14.5" H Lower Storage Interior: 33" W x 20" D x 19.5" H MM - 21617 - 070826 This piece will need to ship via freight.
