Antique Folding Wooden Camp Cot Base

Antique folding camp cot base constructed of hardwood slats joined by an articulated iron scissor-frame mechanism. Designed to support a removable canvas sleeping surface, the frame expands into a full-length bed base and collapses into a compact form for transport and storage. Iron hooks at the ends were intended to secure the missing canvas cover, while the riveted linkage allows the frame to open and close smoothly. Folding cots of this type were widely used for military encampments, hunting expeditions, camping, and temporary lodging during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, prized for their portability and durable construction. Displays overall very good antique condition with expected age-related wear. The hardwood frame exhibits scattered surface scratches, finish wear, minor dings, and an attractive aged patina consistent with long-term use. The iron folding mechanism shows typical oxidation and finish wear but operates smoothly throughout its full range of motion. The original canvas sleeping surface is no longer present. The frame remains structurally sound with no observed breaks or repairs. MM - C-21916 - 072826 For information regarding shipping, please visit our Terms & Conditions page here.
