Anthurium Silver Anthurium sp. 'Silver' An anthurium circulating in the collector trade under the trade name 'Silver' for the distinctive silvery, frosted blue-green to sage-toned coloration of its foliage. It produces broadly ovate to heart-shaped leaves with a smooth, matte, powdery-silver surface, an open sinus with rounded basal lobes, and a fine reticulated venation network that reads subtly darker than the silvered leaf ground. New leaves emerge with warm-toned petiole flushing before settling to the cool silver-green of maturity. A distinctive, compact plant valued for its unusual coloration. Light: Bright indirect light maintains the silvery coloration and clean leaf surface; avoid direct sun which scorches the leaves. Soil: Open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage and aeration; never waterlogged. Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70-80% supports the best surface quality and cleanest leaf emergence. Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully. Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
