Annular Pendant

The Woud Annular Pendant takes the familiar cone shade and gives it this clever twist - instead of a bulb hanging in the middle, there's an LED ring around the bottom edge that creates this clean, almost floating light effect. Designed by Canadian duo MSDS Studio, it's one of those pieces that looks completely different from what you expect a pendant lamp to be, but still feels familiar enough to work in pretty much any space. The powder-coated aluminum construction comes in white, black, or beige, and the whole thing has this satisfying geometric simplicity that works whether you're hanging it over a dining table or in a hallway where you need focused light without visual clutter. What's smart about the LED ring approach is how it eliminates that harsh central light source and spreads illumination evenly around the perimeter instead. You get solid performance from either the 12W small version or 15-18W large size, with RA90 color rendering that keeps everything looking natural rather than weird under the light. The 50,000-hour LED lifespan means you're essentially installing permanent lighting, and the 3-meter fabric cord gives you flexibility for different ceiling heights. The non-dimmable LED isn't a limitation since the ring design already creates this controlled, ambient quality that works well for most situations without needing adjustment. Woud operates with that next-generation Scandinavian design philosophy where traditional simplicity gets pushed into new territory through smart engineering and material choices. Founded by Mia and Torben Koed, the brand focuses on working with international designers who bring fresh perspectives to Nordic minimalism while maintaining the focus on quality and longevity. Their collaboration with MSDS Studio reflects this approach perfectly - taking a classic lighting form and reimagining it through innovative LED technology that creates something genuinely different while still honoring the craftsmanship traditions that make Scandinavian design endure.
