With customization tips for sleeves, shaping, and length, this class will help you finish more sweaters fearlessly and have fun along the way! 🐾🧶 ✨ Bronwyn Casapinka: Stranded Knitting & Simple Colorwork Stranded knitting doesn’t have to be intimidating – Casapinka makes it fun! This engaging class starts with long tail cast-on, swatching in the round, and one-handed stranded knitting, then levels up with catching floats, leg-hugging decreases, and two-handed colorwork for extra speed. You’ll knit the “Mellow Birds” motif and get plenty of Casapinka’s signature humor, expert tips, and snarky cameos from her famous cats, including “Sharon from Security.” ✨ Nancy Ekvall (Blue Sky Fibers): Cable, Create & Connect Ready to conquer cables with confidence? This hands-on class starts with an introduction to the farm friends of Blue Sky Fibers (formerly Blue Sky Alpacas), then guides you through the essentials of cable knitting, using their gorgeous natural fibers to bring your stitches to life. Learn reading charts and fixing common mistakes – like cables twisting the wrong way (no stress, we’ve got you!). You’ll also get swatching, blocking, and pattern modification tips, helping you create beautiful, polished projects with ease, including the workshop pattern – a show-stopping, reversible cable scarf. ✨ Pacomarca + Martha Wissing: Chullo Hat with Cupped Tassels This two-part documentary masterclass was filmed at 15,000 feet, up in the remote Andes mountains, at the world’s largest alpaca preserve. Learn about the vicuna, the rare black alpaca and how Pacomarca endeavors to support ancient traditions while aiding local herders who’ve raised alpaca for hundreds of years. Acclaimed designer Martha Wissing traveled with us to Pacomarca, where she teaches you on-location how to make a traditionally inspired Chullo hat. Learn how to work with slip stitches, read mosaic charts, and experiment with color contrasts to create bold, graphic designs – whether knitting flat or in the round. Martha also covers cable cast-ons, i-cords, eyelets, swirled decreases, and crafting tiered tassels for a playful finishing touch. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for alpaca fiber, vicuña traditions, and the history of weaving. ✨ Tammy White: Sheep to Shawl – Natural Dyeing Take a hands-on journey from fleece to finished skein with Tammy White and her 100+ animal friends at Wing and a Prayer Farm! Explore sustainable fiber farming by learning about local breed-specific fibers like Shetland, Alpaca, and Cotswold, while getting an inside look at shearing, fleece collection, and small farm support. Then, dive into natural dyeing with foraged plants, covering everything from prepping skeins with alum to adjusting colors with simple modifiers.
