Anemone ranunculoides ssp ranunculoides, Wood Anemone or Windflower

Buttercup-yellow flowers on 4-inch stems slowly colonize the woodland in early spring. It does spread, but not fast enough for those it delights! NOTE: These are SUMMER DORMANT plants; they dry up and go "to sleep" after they bloom in spring. Other examples of summer dormant plants are Tulips and Daffodils. Do not be alarmed when they disappear with the onset of warm weather days--given proper conditions, they will be back the next spring, bigger and better than before. Mature size: 4 inches tall and slowly spreading Minimum temperature: -30° F
