The Danish author Hans Christian Andersen is known internationally for his fairytales, which have been translated into over 125 languages. While known for his stories, Andersen also created hundreds of paper cut-outs throughout his life. This work on paper features a study of Warhol's interpretation of one such cut-out, the bold silhouette of Pierrot with Swans and Buildings on a Tray, which likely appealed to Warhol's interest in graphic forms. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a rare work on paper directly from Warhol's own personal collection.
