Androgyne Side Table Ø63

The Audo Copenhagen Androgyne Side Table Ø63 brings together masculine and feminine elements in a way that actually makes sense - it's a lesson in contrasts rather than just mixing materials randomly. Designed by Norwegian architect Danielle Siggerud, this side table features a large 63cm diameter round top that deliberately overhangs its corresponding base, creating this meeting of solid and soft lines that changes how it looks from different angles. At 38cm high, it's got that low lounge table profile that works beautifully beside sofas or between seating arrangements without blocking sightlines. The clever part is how both base and top are sold separately, letting you customize by mixing and matching - choose from three metal finishes (ivory, black steel, or bronze) for the base, then pair it with marble tops in Emperador, Calacatta Viola, Nero Marquina, or Crystal Rose for a genuinely personalized piece. What makes the Androgyne genuinely interesting beyond just looking sculptural is how that intentional overhang creates visual lightness despite the substantial marble top - the table appears to float slightly rather than sitting heavily on its base. The wide size makes it ideal as a lounge table where you can actually set down drinks, books, and remotes without everything crowding together, and the low profile means it tucks nicely beside lower seating like lounge chairs or sofas. Works beautifully used alone as a statement piece or combined with other sizes from the Androgyne collection to create varied heights and surfaces in living rooms. The powder-coated metal base is durable and resistant to scratching and wear, while the marble tops bring natural variation and character - no two are exactly identical. The customization aspect means you're not stuck with one predetermined combination, so you can match your existing decor or deliberately contrast materials for visual interest. Audo Copenhagen was formed by uniting MENU, by Lassen, and The Audo, creating a brand that collaborates with architects and designers like Danielle Siggerud who bring spatial sensitivity to furniture design. A Norwegian architect based in Copenhagen with a master's from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Denmark, Siggerud founded her studio in 2016 and now works globally on projects from renovations to furniture making. Central to her work is a keen eye for space and materials, evident in her contextual approach that embraces built forms while attending meticulously to details. Her design ethos commits to simplicity through balancing architectural fundamentals - space, proportion, light, and materials - not for intrinsic value but as tools to enhance human experience. The Androgyne Side Table reflects this philosophy, creating furniture that elevates daily living through thoughtful contrasts and customizable options.
