Androgyne Side Table Ø40

The Audo Copenhagen Androgyne Side Table Ø40 delivers that perfect bedside or side table scale where it's substantial enough to be useful but compact enough for tighter spaces. Designed by Norwegian architect Danielle Siggerud, this smaller version features a 40cm diameter marble top balanced on a powder-coated steel base at 43cm high - sized perfectly beside beds, sofas, or lounge chairs where you need surface space without visual bulk. The refined marble top barely overhangs the wide, flat legs that are laser-cut for precision, creating an overall sense of balance between the solid top and those contrasting geometric legs. What's clever is how both base and top are sold separately, letting you customize by mixing ivory or black powder-coated steel bases with white or black marble tops for a combination that works with your existing decor or deliberately contrasts for visual interest. What makes this smaller Androgyne genuinely practical is how that 40cm diameter gives you enough surface for a lamp, book, glass of water, and phone on a bedside table without taking up excessive floor space in compact bedrooms. The 43cm height works perfectly beside standard sofas and lounge chairs where you need somewhere to set drinks without reaching down or up awkwardly. The laser-cut legs create that architectural presence that makes it interesting to look at rather than just functional furniture, and the subtle overhang of the marble top creates visual lightness despite the material's weight. The powder-coated steel base is durable and resistant to scratching and wear from daily use, while the marble tops bring natural variation - no two are exactly identical, which adds character. Works beautifully as a standalone piece or paired with the larger Ø63 version to create varied heights and surfaces in living rooms where you want visual interest through different scales. Audo Copenhagen was formed by uniting MENU, by Lassen, and The Audo, creating a brand that collaborates with architects like Danielle Siggerud who approach furniture with spatial sensitivity. A Norwegian architect based in Copenhagen with a master's from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Denmark, Siggerud founded her studio in 2016 and now undertakes global projects from renovations to furniture making. Her work demonstrates a keen eye for space and materials through a sensitive, contextual approach that embraces built forms while attending meticulously to details. Her design ethos commits to simplicity through balancing architectural fundamentals - space, proportion, light, and materials - using these qualities as tools to enhance human experience rather than for intrinsic value alone. The Androgyne Side Table reflects this philosophy, creating perfectly proportioned furniture that fits a range of decor styles through thoughtful contrasts and customizable options.
