Botanical Name: Amyris Balsamifera. Also known as Sandalwood West Indian. Country of Origin: Haiti Cultivation Method: Wild Crafted Method of Extraction: Steam Distilled Wood and Branches Consistency: Medium to Thick Aromatic Description: Sweet and smoky and is used as a scent fixative in perfumes and in soaps. Perfumery Note: Middle/Base Aromatherapy Properties: (Uses) This essential oil is commonly referred to as West Indian Sandalwood oil. However, it is not a true replacement for Sandalwood essential oil. Amyris is indigenous to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The shrub wood for this distillation is collected from fallen branches and dead wood that when stripped of its bark, retains the precious oils. Available year-round, the semi-aridity of the locale is constant and gives the oil ongoing consistency in quality and scent. It is also used as a fixative in perfumery, and a welcome addition to fine toiletries and soaps. Blends well with: Geranium, Pine White Organic, Spruce Hemlock, Cedarwood Virginia, Myrrh (India), Galbanum , Frankincense, Cypress, Clove Leaf, Anise, Lemon, Orange Sweet, Cistus, Rose Absolute (Morocco), and Benzoin. Wild Crafted: This oil is Wild Crafted. Wild Crafted Oils are usually organic but not certified, normally because there is no certifying agency in the area where it is grown. Wild crafted oils are grown wild, without the use of fertilizers or pesticides - grown naturally in areas where the plants are native to the region. Not commercially cultivated. Silky Scents Essential Oils are used in Aromatherapy applications and recipes!
