These massive mammals eat grass, sedges, and green plants during the warm summer months. They switch to woody twigs, tree bark, and evergreen leaves when snow covers the ground in the winter. They love treats like wild dandelions, clovers, violets, and forest mushrooms. As ruminants, they swallow their food quickly and bring it back up to chew it again for good digestion.
