Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Plasma System

Developed for road, dirt, and track riding, the Tech-Air® 5 Plasma System is an under-jacket motorcycle airbag. Delivering full chest, ribs, back and shoulder coverage with CE EN 1621-4 Level 1 airbag certification, it weighs 1,530 g and integrates a PLASMA back protector, STREET/OFF-ROAD/RACE modes, and a single-canister, user-replaceable inflator. Its ultra-slim, breathable chassis disappears under a jacket, while up to 30 hours of battery life keeps protection ready. Key FeaturesUpper-body impact zone coverage: extends protection across critical torso areas to help reduce injury risk during a crash.Ultra-lightweight chassis (approx. 1,530 g): reduces bulk and rider fatigue; more than 25% lighter than the Tech-Air® 5 for enhanced comfort.Ultra-slim under-jacket profile: delivers an “invisible” fit that moves naturally and doesn’t restrict movement.Breathable, moisture-managed fit: stretch materials and wicking treatment help keep you cool and comfortable on every ride.PLASMA back‑protector technology: balances impact absorption with flexibility and ventilation for everyday comfort.Mono-layer stretch mesh integration: contours to the airbag to minimize bulk and maximize airflow.Single‑canister inflator: reduces weight and enables faster inflation for responsive protection.Quick‑release service cover: allows user‑replaceable gas inflator (where legally permitted) for rapid turnaround after a deployment.Modular system design: simplifies use and servicing for ongoing protection.Extended battery life: provides up to 30 hours of ride time per charge.Expanded size range: eight sizes (XS–4XL) for a tailored, inclusive fit.Three Riding Modes with LED control: STREET, OFF‑ROAD, and RACE; switch modes by pressing the LED Display button for 2 seconds with a vibration confirmation.LED/haptic status alerts and auto activation: clear visual/vibration feedback and automatic arming when zipped via the internal magnetic sensor on the Tech-Air® 5 PLASMA Airbag System. ProtectionActive Protection: The airbag provides comprehensive full upper-body coverage, safeguarding the chest, ribs, back, and shoulders.Integrated Back Protector: Integrated Nucleon PLASMA back protector positioned to reinforce full-back impact protection and complement the airbag’s coverage.Stealth Back Protector Design: Back protector contours to the electronics case to maintain continuous protective coverage and secure integration within the system.CE-Certified Protection:The Tech-Air® 5 PLASMA Airbag System and all included protective parts are Category II certified PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) under European Regulation (UE) 2016/425 and in compliance under corresponding UK legislation. The passive back protector is CE certified according to EN 1621-2:2014 Level 1 (Full Back). The inflatable protector is CE certified according to EN 1621-4:2013 Level 1 (Full Back). The system is CE certified as a protective garment for motorcycle riders according to EN 17092-6:2020 as a Class C undergarment.Airbag Deployments: The airbag is certified for up to six deployments before requiring replacement. ConstructionUltra-thin mono-layer stretch mesh chassis at the collar, underarms, and front panels for low material mass and high airflow.Ergonomic sleeve pattern with a deeper underarm cut to reduce material stacking and seam bulk.Extended rear hem and contoured, low-cut neckline to increase coverage while minimizing edge-to-skin contact.Chassis engineered to align with Alpinestars jacket ventilation channels, ensuring direct vent path through mesh zones.Anatomically contoured airbag bladder with strategically positioned cutaways to expand the protection envelope across the back, chest, ribs, and shoulders while controlling overall volume.Integrated Nucleon PLASMA back protector constructed from a viscoelastic compound co-injected with elastomer compounds for a slim, flexible, ventilated structure.Minimal use of plastic components to achieve a low weight-to-performance ratio and maintain free airflow within the chassis.System weight: 1,530 g.
