Lock the cap onto the base by twisting the yellow knob. STEP 3: Once the cap is locked to the base, turn the black part of the cap until the adjacent tiles are level; no need to over-tighten STEP 4: After the thin-set has cured, break off the caps and bases with a malleIt's your foot. It's important to break the caps loose by hitting them toward the top of the spacer base (in line with the grout joint). STEP 5: Remove the broken piece of the bases from the caps by unlocking the cap from the base spindle using the yellow knob.
